Winner of the Grand National 1967
Owner: Mr. Cyril Watkins Trainer: John Kempton, at Compton Jockey: John Buckingham Time: 9 mins 49 3/5 secs
The victory of 100-1 outsider Foinavon was one of the biggest upsets in Grand National history. As the rest of the field all fell or were baulked at the 23rd fence, the tailed-off Foinavon found a gap in the melee and galloped into Grand National history. The 23rd fence is now named after him, the only National winner to be so honoured.
